Original report:

Allegheny County bomb squad officials were on the scene Sunday afternoon, assisting local police from Penn Hills in an investigation along Frankstown Road.

According to county officials, the bomb squad was called in to assist with the investigation, which had led to a major road being blocked to traffic. The specifics behind the incident have not been made public at this time.

An ambulance and fire vehicle were observed blocking the road, while police and what appeared to be bomb squad officials were seen walking along Frankstown Road. Pittsburgh's Action News 4 reported that it had reached out to Penn Hills police for more information on what led to the incident, but none was immediately available.

As of 1 p.m., a portion of Frankstown Road remained closed to traffic due to the ongoing investigation. The situation is still developing, and officials have not released any further details at this time.

The road closure has caused some disruption in the area, with drivers being rerouted as a result.
