Police responded to a reported shooting at the Summit House condominium complex in Chester County on Friday morning, finding one woman dead and another injured.
At 10:54 a.m., patrol officers with the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department arrived at the scene and found a 9-year-old girl with a gunshot wound. She was conscious and able to speak with officers before being taken to a hospital for treatment.
The police investigation led to the discovery of a woman in her 40s who had died from a gunshot wound inside the residence. A gun was found nearby, according to officials.
Residents of the complex expressed shock at the violence, describing their neighborhood as normally quiet and peaceful. "It's hard to hear about a child being shot or hurt in any way," said one resident, Craig Block.
The investigation is ongoing and involves multiple agencies, including the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department, Chester County Detectives, and the Chester County District Attorney's office.
