Hannah Hirsh, a former stripper who spent five years in the sex industry, has spoken out about the "dark" life she escaped to help others avoid a similar fate. Hirsh, who now runs the Kept by Grace Ministry, has been visiting strip clubs to share her faith with women working in the industry.
Hirsh described the sex industry as a place where addiction, drugs, and trafficking are prevalent, and where women often feel empty and numb. She said that many women who enter the industry thinking they can make quick money are unaware of the consequences they will face. "You don't realize the door that you're opening, and you don't realize all of the darkness that comes with it," Hirsh explained.
Hirsh's own experience in the industry began when she was drawn in by the promise of money. However, she said that the glamour of the lifestyle is a facade, and that those who live it are often unhappy and struggling with addiction. The pandemic of 2020, which forced the closure of the strip clubs in her area, marked a turning point for Hirsh. She began to sit in silence with God, and said that this experience pulled her heart out of the industry and closer to her faith.
Hirsh now visits strip clubs to share her story and spread the message of God's redemption. She believes that no one is too far gone for God to redeem, and that Jesus' example of reaching out to those considered "too dirty" is a model for Christians to follow. "No matter what they have done, God can redeem anybody," Hirsh said.
