Princess Cruises is increasing prices for some of its most popular add-on packages, effective October 13. The price hike affects the cruise line's Plus and Premier packages, which include amenities such as drink packages, Wi-Fi, and room service.
The Princess Plus package will increase to $70 per day, while the Premier package will increase to $105 per day. On the Sun Princess and Star Princess, package prices will rise to $75 and $110 per day, respectively.
According to a spokesperson for Princess Cruises, the price increase is due to changes in the company's operating environment. The cruise line stated that it periodically reviews package pricing to ensure that guests receive strong value and a convenient way to bundle popular amenities.
The company's bundled packages outline distinct tiers of shipboard perks. The Princess Plus package includes up to 15 alcoholic beverages per day, four casual meals, prepaid gratuities, and Wi-Fi coverage for one device per traveler. The top-tier Premier package expands those perks to unlimited drinks, unrestricted casual and specialty dining, and four-device Wi-Fi access.
In addition to the package price increases, Princess Cruises is also restructuring its standalone internet offerings. The company is introducing a two-device Wi-Fi option priced at $39.99 per day and increasing the cost of single-device internet access to $39.99 per day for a 24-hour purchase or $33.99 per day when booked for the entire sailing.
Some passengers have taken to social media to express their concerns about the price increases, with some stating that they may reconsider their vacation plans as a result.
