A customer has come forward with allegations that a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Forsyth, Illinois, served him a cheaper cut of steak instead of the more expensive filet mignon on multiple occasions.

Kenneth Card, who has been a regular at the restaurant for over a year, claims he received a sirloin instead of a filet mignon three times. He took to TikTok in early October to warn other customers about the alleged issue, which has since garnered over 30,000 views.

Card, who has experience working in hotel and restaurant kitchens, said he was confident in his ability to identify the type of steak he was being served. He claimed that on the first instance, he told staff he thought he had received the wrong steak, and they offered him a filet. On subsequent visits, he ate the steak without raising the issue, but on the third visit, he spoke with a manager after ordering the filet mignon again.

The restaurant reportedly took the steak away to get a second opinion, and staff confirmed that it was not what Card had ordered. A new filet mignon was prepared, and Card posted about his experience after getting home. He said he wanted to bring attention to the issue, as he felt that customers were being "ripped off" if they were being served a cheaper cut of steak instead of what they paid for.

A spokesperson for Texas Roadhouse confirmed that the company was aware of Card's post and had looked into the allegations. While the company could not confirm that the issue occurred on three occasions, they did confirm that there was one mix-up, which was corrected onsite by providing Card with a filet mignon. The company stated that team members double-check food for quality and accuracy as it is expedited from the kitchen, and customers who believe they received the wrong steak or were charged incorrectly should alert their server at the time.

Card has stated that he does not plan to return to the Forsyth location, saying he will try somewhere else.
