The Tampa Bay Rays have secured a spot in the 2026 World Series, defeating the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series. The Rays will now face the Milwaukee Brewers, who swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
The Rays won Game 5 on the road and carried their momentum into Game 6 at Tropicana Field, where a sold-out crowd provided a boost to the home team. Richie Palacios got the Rays on the board in the second inning with a two-out double, and Junior Caminero's seventh-inning home run gave the Rays a 5-1 lead that seemed to seal the game.
However, the Guardians refused to give up, scoring twice in the next frame to narrow the deficit to 5-3. The Rays responded with a two-run homer by Yandy Diaz, giving them a 7-3 lead that proved to be the final margin.
With the win, the Rays will make their second World Series appearance in six years, having previously appeared in the 2020 shortened season. The Brewers, meanwhile, will be making their first World Series appearance in 44 years. One of the two teams will be seeking their first World Series title in franchise history.
