President Donald Trump has urged U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro to revisit the decision to drop felony vandalism charges against former Olympian David Hearn.

Hearn was indicted on July 2 on one count of felony destruction of property, accused of causing over $1,000 in damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool by grabbing and tugging at a loose section of the pool's coating. However, prosecutors later dropped the case after receiving new evidence that suggested the damage was actually caused by flawed installation by the contractor.

Trump expressed his disagreement with Pirro's decision on Truth Social, stating that "people are able to see it up close" and reporting vandalism at the Reflecting Pool. He also claimed that witnesses saw the alleged vandal cutting the material with a knife.

The Department of Justice had initially sought to bring the charge against Hearn, but later asked the court to dismiss the indictment without prejudice due to difficulties in proving beyond a reasonable doubt that he caused the damage.

Hearn's attorneys have defended their client, stating that the government's approach was "ready, fire, aim" and that the administration owes him an apology.
