A reporter for the Maine Wire narrowly avoided being run over by a vehicle on Thursday after a confrontation outside the Bangor Comprehensive Treatment Center.

According to footage captured by the publication, the reporter, Joe Sokol, was talking to a man who was criticizing him for filming outside the center. The driver, who appeared to be possibly intoxicated, said "You're invading people's privacy here. Confidentiality, you realize that?" Sokol responded by saying "I'm invading people's privacy? By being in public with a camera? And doing a report?"

As Sokol continued his report, he suddenly backed away, apparently avoiding a near collision with the vehicle. Sokol could then be heard reciting the suspect's license plate numbers through the knocked-down camera as the car kept driving.

The Maine Wire also released additional footage, including security footage that showed how close the vehicle approached Sokol. In the footage, Sokol can be seen approaching the center's owner, suggesting that the suspect was connected. The owner, however, accused Sokol of attempting to intimidate her and demanded he leave the property.

Sokol confirmed in a comment to Fox News Digital that he was investigating an addiction clinic and that police were notified and on the scene. He added that he was not yet sure if the suspect was apprehended. Sokol also noted that this was not the first time he had faced an attempt on his life, and that he was currently under investigation for a death threat.
