Blaney paying tribute to Busch with special helmet for Iowa

Ryan Blaney will pay tribute to Kyle Busch during Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway with a specially designed helmet.

The helmet features various pictures from Busch's career, as well as color elements that match the paint schemes he drove in notable moments. This is not the first time Blaney has honored Busch publicly; the two-time Cup Series champion passed away on May 21 due to complications from pneumonia and sepsis.

Blaney explained his thought process behind designing the helmet: "My thought when Kyle passed – I always thought in situations like that – how do you remember somebody and think of all the good they did in their life and all the success they had?" He chose to use a unique way to show respect for Busch and his family, as he felt helmets were a personal aspect of their sport.

The helmet includes pictures of some of Busch's most significant wins, including his first career victory in both the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and Cup Series. Other notable moments featured include his 100th win in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, his 200th win in NASCAR, a Brickyard 400 win, one of his Bristol Motor Speedway sweeps, and both of his Cup Series championships.

Blaney's helmet will be on display during Sunday's race, which he is set to start from the pole. After the event, he plans to give it to Brexton Busch, Kyle's son, so that they can decide what to do with it next.
