The Los Angeles Chargers have gotten off to a disappointing start to the NFL season, losing their first two games against the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders. In both losses, the team's defense struggled, allowing an average of 349 yards per game and only managing one takeaway.

Pro Bowl safety Derwin James expressed his frustration with the team's performance, stating that the defense's struggles are "trash" and that they need to "get it fixed." James, who broke his left pinky finger in the team's loss to the Raiders, acknowledged that being angry is not enough to solve the problem and emphasized the need for improvement.

The Chargers have been struggling to contain opponents, allowing 26 points and scoring only 14 in both losses. James, who has 17 tackles and a pass breakup in the first two games, believes that the team is only a few plays away from turning their season around.

However, the team's early-season struggles are a concern, as teams that start 0-2 often struggle to recover throughout the season. According to OPTA Stats, the Chargers are the second team in NFL history to lose back-to-back games by double digits at home against teams with a sub-.200 win percentage the previous season.

The Chargers will face a challenging schedule in the coming weeks, with road games against the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks in Weeks 3 and 4, respectively.
