Shane van Gisbergen secured pole position for the NASCAR Truck Series race at Richmond, marking his first time achieving this feat at an oval track.

This achievement marks van Gisbergen's 13th career NASCAR pole and his fifth in the Truck Series. He will be driving the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet in the weekend's event.

Van Gisbergen posted a lap time of 23.168 seconds, edging out Kaden Honeycutt by just 0.014 seconds for the top spot. Chandler Smith and Grant Enfinger rounded out the top four qualifying positions, with Nick Leitz fifth.

Following his pole win, van Gisbergen expressed gratitude to his team at Spire Motorsports, crediting them with helping him get comfortable behind the wheel. He noted that the truck's handling was similar to a Cup car, which has aided in his transition to the series.

Van Gisbergen has shown promise in his limited starts in the Truck Series, including a third-place finish at North Wilkesboro earlier this season.
