Jewish voters in New York appear to be shifting away from the Democratic Party, with a recent Siena Polling average showing a significant decline in support for the party among this demographic.

According to a CNN segment, the Democratic Party's advantage over Republicans among Jewish voters in New York has narrowed by 36 points since 2022, with the party's lead now standing at just 13 points. This represents a significant shift from the 2018 election, when Democrats held a 40-point advantage among Jewish voters.

Twitch streamer Hasan Piker responded to the segment by blaming the shift on Jewish voters' support for Israel, stating that the issue was "not like the Republican alternatives are presenting a more appealing policy agenda, it's just Israel." Piker's comments were met with backlash from several quarters, including the Republican Jewish Coalition, which accused him of perpetuating an antisemitic trope.

Critics of Piker's comments pointed out that the shift in Jewish voting patterns may be due to a range of factors, including concerns about safety and security in New York City. New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz argued that Jewish voters have valid reasons to shift away from Democrats, citing the city's high rates of antisemitic hate crimes and the mayor's perceived lack of concern for these issues.

Several Democratic lawmakers, including Senators Elissa Slotkin and Jacky Rosen, condemned Piker's comments, with Slotkin stating that "no community should face the threat of violence for their political views. Period."
