The Tampa Bay Rays took a commanding 2-0 lead in the American League Division Series (ALDS) with a 5-2 win over the New York Yankees on Monday night.

The Yankees struggled to contain the Rays' offense, committing four errors in the first inning that led to a 1-0 lead. Junior Caminero hit into a fielder's choice off starter Cam Schlittler, scoring the first run of the game. This was the fifth postseason game in Yankees franchise history with four or more errors.

Ben Rice provided some offense for the Yankees, hitting a solo home run in the fourth inning to tie the game. However, the Rays responded with a three-run inning in the fifth, highlighted by an RBI groundout by Liam Hicks, an RBI infield hit by Chandler Simpson, and a two-run single from Richie Palacios.

Rice's second home run of the night in the eighth inning trimmed the deficit to 5-2, but it was not enough to spark a comeback for the Yankees. The team will face elimination in Game 3, which pits ace Max Fried against the Rays' 15-game winner, Nick Martinez.

The series now shifts to the Bronx, where the Yankees will try to stay alive.
