Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be held at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, but the matchup between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries will take place at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. This afternoon game is a departure from the usual evening schedule for a league finals series.
The scheduling change is a result of the Atlanta Hawks' decision to move their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers to 8 p.m. ET, one hour later than originally scheduled. This adjustment was made to accommodate the Hawks' back-to-back games at State Farm Arena. The WNBA had originally scheduled Game 6 for 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.
The Dream have been drawing sold-out crowds throughout the Finals, and the league has had to adjust the schedule to accommodate the larger capacity of State Farm Arena. The arena has a seating capacity of 17,000, while the Dream's usual home court, Gateway Center Arena, has a capacity of 3,500.
The rescheduled game will still air on USA Network and stream on Peacock. The Dream's Angel Reese expressed her preference to stay at State Farm Arena, citing the strong fan support in the area. However, the team will focus on Game 5 against the Valkyries in San Francisco on Monday night before worrying about the potential afternoon game on Thursday.
